I mixed some salt up a little over a week ago while I was out of town, Red Sea Coral Pro Salt. I came back to my office this morning intending to do a waterchange and there is a white-ish residue in my bucket. I've mixed/stored in this bucket with the same salt mix before and never had this problem. Should I dump it and start over or is it something I don't need to worry about?

My routine has always been water changes on Tuesday 5 gallons of salt using salinity. Monday night I fill my bucket add heater and powerhead let water sit for half hour cause my well shoots out pretty cold water. Once up to temperature I add the salt 3 cups right away slowly pouring in then the final cups are added 30 min later. I let it mix over night next morning add water before lights come on.

I have read several also have this problem with salinity but mixing this way has never gave me a problem with it. Hope this helps

I wouldn't think it would hurt anything but im no expert on this someone else may be able to chime in

Mix it up and use it. If you're doing 10% water changes per week 90% of that would still be in the tank anyhow.

I use Instant Ocean and get the residue. I usually leave it mixing a few days. Once I use it, and let the brute can dry it always leaves this white residue. I just clean it out with some water before I use it again. I feel better cleaning it up before i use it again though.

I use the Coral Pro salt and get the same results. I had it turn a light tank color before as well.
