Hello all, what salt is everybody using? Ive been using Nyos Pure. I love the salt, but it is very hard to find in stock. Im considering moving to Fritz.

Aquaforest Reef Salt but I have used fritz blue box in the past with good results

I always used Reef Crystals but in Adam's system we use Aquaforest Reef Salt. We used the Fritz for a while but it caused a bit too much precipitation in our mixing barrel. When we used to make up 100g at a time it was fine but we can't add a full box slow enough to prevent some precipitation and the Aquaforest works better.
Any salt will do with the right additives needed for whatever parameters you want. Fritz blue is all over thr place with parameters and one thing or another didn't even fall in their "range" 3 or 4 times for me. Yes..it was mixed correctly (also actual salt in bucket mixed) and temp was good..lol. maybe its a non issue anymore. But..its good to always test new batches of any salt because ypu can adjust it.
I started with reef crystals but now I’m using AF reef salt. It’s so nice not to have brown sludge in my mixing bin anymore
The only secret to the salt you use is picking one that is as close to the parameters to where you keep your system as possible and mixes clean. I used to love the Live Aquaria salt, it mixed up nearly identical to where I keep my tank and was a very clean salt. No brown buildup or precip.
Fritz mixes pretty clean but like billyocean parameters bounced around and would precip a little. Even though they rate the mix very similar to LA's salt. We tried working with Fritz to find a solution to the salt solution. I was told their salt was best mixed at 68 degrees. Try to keep 250+ gallons at 68 degrees in Georgia. Maybe this time of year in the few winter true winter months we have. I did hook up a chiller to my 300 gallon mixing barrel and it did help but was just too much of a PITA to do long term. I mix batches by the full box and can't be doing that every time.

In the end I'm always open to looking at something different if the parameters are close to what I want and it's cost effective.

I have never paid a whole lot of attention to salt, to be honest. I tried that Continuum salt and hated it because it left a thick white scum in my bucket, then switched to Tropic Marin salts and have been using those ever since. I do have to add to them to reach the alk levels that I prefer, though.
I got two boxes of the AF salt from our last group buy, but have only used it once so far. It mixes super clean, though, so I might totally switch when I'm out of TM.

Reef Crystals. The only hassle is the residue after mixing. If you are trying to grow super nutso difficult SPS, maybe, but even for that I believe there are half a dozen factors more important (and worth spending money on) than salt mix. You should do those first.
Put it this way, if you are not 2- or 3- part dosing on an automated basis, the salt is not going to make a difference. 2-part dosing, lighting and keeping nutrients in the goldilocks zone made my SPS grow like crazy. Those three were the game changers.

Instant ocean purple bucket has always worked for me, it's cheap too. If you have a large amount of sps (or plan too) then reef crystals might be the play.

It ain't cheap anymore.. all salts have gotten really high..
Well yeah, just meant it's cheaper than other salts.

Okay, I was wondering if it was just me. I mean, I know prices have gone up over the years, but when I first got in the hobby I don't recall salt being quite this much of an expense, like... I never felt the need to ration it, or anything like that.
Now, I'm looking at the 400 gallons worth of salt I just spent $130+ on, and wondering how many fish I can QT before I'll have to order more... for ~$80 a box.
