salt

just about any salt will work.....

I didn't like IO because the amount that I had to dose to bring up levels took too much time for me.

I like salinity because my levels are spot on even with large water changes (30% to 40% weekly), so ph, mag, calc, & alk are all matched, and I only dose what is being "consumed".....

I don't like all the precipitation, however.....

I use salinity in my 20 gallon reef (thanks to Seachem for the raffle prize!). I had been using RSCP in my 55g fowler as I had gotten a deal on in awhile back, now using IO in my 55g fowler.

I have a 110 and use IO reef crystals. I have about 25 sps frags (2 to 3" or so each), 8 lps (most small, 3 of which are about 4" x 4"), and about 15 softie corals ranging in size. I do a 15 gallon WC every 10 days and dose approximately 1 tsp of kalk every day which seems to keep me in check. I'm far from being pro so just take this for what it's worth. I test alk/calc every other day and mag once a week or so.
