+1 on the Caribsea Arg-Alive. I have a goby that does some major aquascaping of his own. This sand is course enough as to not get caught up in the water column.
I like the World Wide Imports natures ocean sand. It's good stuff and comes as a mixed grain sand. I use the Samoan pink, which is a little bit more fine than the origional.
That's what i used as well. Ive one five gallon bucket full and another 1/2 full if any ones is looking .. $20.00 .. its enough for a 120G tank. 4x2x2 I had the figi pink in my Solona and it just blew all over the place.
would it be better to have no sand? it might allow you to keep the tank super clean, but does sand really help with the filtration if you don't have a DSB?
I don't care for bare-bottomed tanks. I've heard mixed opinions on DSB. Thanks for all of the advice.....I think I'm going to stay away from the sugar fine!
