My tank (72) has been up and running 8 months and I've never cleaned the 2 inch sand bed. EVER. I know right? Well, I have a sleeper goby that churns it through his gills 24/7 and does a nice job, but I've never actually siphon cleaned it...
And a few people theorize my sandbed may be leeching some nutrients into my water, which is slowly my SPS growth and happiness.
So, what now? I just got a new siphon cleaning tube specifically built to clean sand, but I'm almost scared to touch the sand.
Should I jump in and clean it completely during my next water change? Do it bit by bit? Or just leave it alone?
Any opinions would be helpful!
