Sand sifting gobies

Just keep in mind that a fairly significant part of a clown goby's natural diet is SPS coral, and they've been known to nip at LPS and softies too. I had a clown goby decimate acan frags. They also tend to have a short lifespan in captivity, my guess is due to diet. I don't know of anyone that has kept one of these for any substantial amount of time.

If anyone knows more about these fish, please speak up if I'm wrong. I'd also be really interested to hear from anyone that has had one of these fish for a year or more.

I had a clown goby for a few months then, I sold him. He never ate my corals, just rested on them... and a fish that small, they didn't seem to notice. It took about 2 weeks in the tank before he started moving much or eating but, he ate flake and mysis right out of my hand... and rested on my finger tip. I miss that fishy.

Yup, if you are just looking for sand sifters, I can suggest what I have in my 24... which I'm sure is too many... Sifting star, Harlequin Serpent Star, Nassarius (less than 10) and a monie cowrie. The cowrie is what I got first for this tank but, it didn't do a good job. It actually just ate when I fed the tank for awhile. The sifter star has always been my #1 choice for the job.

Yeah I have carib sea's fines grain size. How many nas snails would do well on a 20~25 gallon tank (I'm upgrading to a 25 soon)

I think 10 nassarius would do the trick for a 25 gal. If there isn't enough food in the sand, they eat fishfood a,d love squid... I still haven't gotten over how creepy awesome they are.
