Sand ?

I am going to Hawaii for 10 days and wanted to bring back some Black live sand from one of the beaches. How would I keep it and will it be safe to add to an existing tank?

It that the fish eating bacteria? I actually asked someone I know in the military about sending me some live sand from Hawaii. Apparently there is something that gets passed from fish to fish through the wonderful circle of life that can cause catastrophe in no time in a tank.

Edit: Sorry, should have read the link first. I am highly superstitious though, would not do it. You can buy black sand at most LFS.

I find it funny, I would bring the sand legally without looking for bad trouble. After I get it here I give my priest a call to come bless my tank!
