sanity salt by seachem

High Calcium (520 or so) & Mag (1300 or soo), low enough alk (9 or so) to fit my needs!

$69.00 bucks for 220 gallons=great price!

what I hated about IO is that I would have to add tons of mag & calcium and play with it...waste time & money!

And I found just the oposite results especially concerning alk. I constantly had to suplement alk after every water change with salinity and I never found calcium levels over 460 and mag ran between 1225 and 1300. I personally found IO or RC more consistent. I will say colors were better with salinity but I won't concede it was all salinity as my t5 lamps are a year old this month and it has just been a month since I switched back to RC. Will have a better idea if it is lamps or salt bringing out the colors once I get new lamps in place.

It is very interesting how different tanks can produce such differing results

While IO was lower in those areas than some of the other salts I found that it was consistent in those levels and it was quite simple to adjust the reactors to those levels. I wasted no time with IO as I could throw a bag in the mixing tank, walk away and let it mix , I didn't have to use it in a specific time either. Because it is way cheaper I am able to do more water changes as well and maintain a uln system without dosing vodka and running a lot of high dollar gfo. I think it is more of a pick your poison with salt mixes.

Exactly and the amount of work can be dependent upon how your system is set up as well. In my system the IO posed no additional work .

bought a bucket of Salinity for reefs 120gal mix for $25.00 so I'm thinking I got a good deal. did WC tonight and will see what it tests like tomorrow. I can tell you that cup per cup that it's SG is higher and the PH was 8.2ish. I did not test the CA. I normally have to buffer the PH with RC and IO.
