Are scats reef safe I heard some debate on them? These are the ones that can be keept n brakish water also. I heard they are good cleanup fish and eat plenty of nastys and not coral?

I didnt think you could keep them in a marine tank. I wanted some while i was a trops guy and thought it had to be higher than 1.01 but lower than 1.02

I found this whatever it's worth....

There is a store in North Ga that has these in there display F/O tank. They ae not naturally found in sea water but can be maintained for a short while in sw. I would not personally recomend you getting them and would question any store that suggests them to you. JMO

Thanks for the thoughts! I did see them in a salt water tank with some clowns @ a brand new fish store here. I have always seen them with the brakish fish. Makes me think twice before revisiting this particular store...

Na, go back and educate him a little, let him know what is acceptable IYO.
If he cares about his business and the animals he sells, he will do some research himself.

Yeah.. Don't go in preaching it though.. I myself would be like " I thought they lived in such and such conditions "

Might have gotten some bad info and a little friendly conversatipon goes a long way..

Never know.. Might hook you up for giving him a heads up on proper care..

+1 I was not implying to brow beat him, but that is how I just read it as well. I learned a ton from ARC members when I first opened up. Probably why I give a 20% discount. Such great guidance.

I know that's not what ya meant Chris..I was just stating the obvious.. At the end of the day we all want the same thing.. Progression for the hobby and great tanks..

The best way to reach that goal is the sharing of information..

We all had to start from the same place.. Knowing nothing.. LOL
