I was under the impression that it was quite difficult to scratch glass. After a thorough cleaning this past weekend, I'm seeing several little scratches on my tank. I was just using a regular old Kent scraper. What the heck? How do I avoid this in the future?

Change the blade or scraper more often.......maybe, but I would just use razor blades, cheap and efficient. You could mod a small piece of PVC to hold the razor blade similar to the Kent product setup. My .02.

I am done using mag floats, scrapers or anything else on my glass. I have had success with the white acrylic pads and I jsut put them on the velcro of the mag float and they work well. I now plan to use magic erasers and my hands to get the algae off the glass and razorblades for the corners

That is a good call on the acrylic wipes and using them w the mag floats!

They work great - just cut to fit use and toss it every few weeks or so

not the ones I use, I dont buy storebought magic erasers. Mine come from Ecolab and are completely chem free. No MSDS sheets either...because their are no chems. They are sticklers about providing MSDS sheets for every single thing they sell me.

As far as i know the regular ones are inert. Just have to make sure they are original.

Yes, the reg ones ive used several times on my FOWLR before I went reef. Then they started making several 'flavors' of them and I stopped trusting them

I use the white filter floss that you can buy at most fish stores. Its cheap, soft, and wont scratch glass or acrylic. Mag floats are nice but require adult supervision in most cases... one grain of sand and its over.
