do i need one on my 120 it has dual returns.. and my return pump will be a little giant 3-MDQX-SC?
 
No, you don't need one. A SCWD is for a closed-loop system where you can direct flow and randomize it. You wouldn't want one on your returns.
 
SCWDs actually work very well on returns. They are great way to create more alternating random flow.They do restrict flow considerably so if used one should calculate that into the head loss #

It switches the flow from the left to the right and back again. How is that not beneficial?

You might want to look into the 1" one as the 3/4" can't be taken apart to service where the 1" SCWD can.
