I have 15 g column tank that i will be setting up soon. I have sand and rocks in the other dt so its a simple cycled start up. What would you put in there. I will have a 10 g sump in line but have it looped in the main system as well to turn the water over about 2 times a day. I will also have a chiller on the sh tank if needed. I will also have some micro algae in the sh dt

So let me know what you would put in there.

You may have thought of this and already come up with a solution but I thought I would throw it out there. If you run a loop through the chiller to keep the temp down in the sea horse tank but then turn the water over from the main system twice a day, you are going to get a big temp swing each time you do that aren't you?

I was thinking if the water transfers just say 2* aday it should not effect the temp. As both systems will be running separate but only loop to keep the water parameters the same and making weekly wc easier. The tank will have a ba on it and the return pump ether a mag 7 or mag 9.5. Feeding the chiller and the tank. The 120 has a 75 sump and was thinking that i would feed the sh tank with 1/4" tubing and a return to the75g sump with a 3/4". The flow will be slow enough that it should not make noise and not create any temp swings

that tank is wayyyyyyyyy too small for Seahorses! Need at least a 50...30 for some smaller species...

Respectfully disagree, Ralph. The 15 column has a small footprint but it's nice and tall - just what they need. A pair of H. erectus will do just fine in that configuration of tank.

ok, I guess we will (disagree).....15 gallon column is kinda small, imho unless you have a pair of dwarfs....

H. erectus get to 6 inches or so.....I realize that height is more important, however.

since you have had Seahorses, and I only pipefish, I will relinquish.......

Dwarfs would be lost in a 15 column. The tank is about 22" or so tall. It's not a standard 15. It has a square footprint and plenty tall enough for them to do the dance.
