Guys,
Just an FYI to those using Salinity. I worked out the amount you need per 5 gallons of water. I was going by the old Instant Ocean rule of 3 cups per 5 gallons of water to get 1.026, and raised the SG of my 60 gallon up too high.

Anyways, for Seachem Salinity Reef Salt:

5 gallons RODI + 2 1/8 cups Salinity = 1.026 SG
10 + 4 1/4
15 + 6 3/8
20 + 8 1/2
25 + 10 5/8
30 + 12 3/4
35 + 14 7/8
40 + 17

I've been throwing 2 cups in with about 4-4.5 and a half gallons, been hitting 1.025 every time.

Their site says 7c/15g for 1.025, and it comes out too high. I think your amounts look better.

Glad to help. I usually figure out the amounts to make it easier since I usually change the same amount of water every time.

I had the exact opposite problem. I was initially using too little salt. Then got my refractometer properly calibrated.

I've also had an issue with my Salinity salt and low calcium. But between Jenn at Imagine Ocean and her rep at Seachem, they're taking care of me. After confirming my low CA (380 vs 435 on the label) readings and sending in a salt sample, Seachem is replacing one of my 3 buckets of my salt.

So much props to Seachem in taking care of this!!

thanks for the good info as always dave. by the way how is the chalice tank doing? any updates on that bad boy? to be truthful it's been killing me not to ask you!
