:shout: I have a male Erectus Seahorse that is swimming upside down! I think his pouch needs to be evacuated. I tried to do it, but can't find the pouch opening. Anyone have any experience with this?

Thanks, Amy

Thanks, I will check out the reef central link. Also, I have started a thread on seahorse.org already, but I am waiting on a response. In the meantime, this little guy is breaking my heart.

Have you ever done this?? If so, I'd pay you to come up and give it a shot!

nope! closest I had was pipes..........there are a few members here, albeit not many. Also, ask
Felicia McCaulley on facebook......

Some one on seahorse.org post a link to the directions on getting the bubble out. I did not have to insert bobby pin, but just apply a little pressure till the air came out.

I did it!! :yay: He's swimming right now! Thanks for the encouragement!

Whew!

Do you know what caused it? Was it gas bubble disease or do you have an air stone? You don't want it to happen again...

Not sure. There seem to be alot of theories as to what exactly causes it, but no one seems to know for sure. I do not have an airstone in that tank.

Hopefully, it won't happen again. I do have some Diamox on hand, just in case. Hopefully, I won't need it!

I'm late to the game...

Good job on evacuating. Hopefully he doesn't have an infection. I'm not up to speed on the latest treatment methods, but if it happens again, he likely has an infection that needs treatment, in addition to repeated evacuations.

Ha! You were the first person I called. You don't open till 4 today..... evidentally!
That's why I started this thread. I figured you'd be my first response! lol

All seems well right now, but I will definitely be keeping an eye on him! I guess I need to do some research on how to dose this stuff, just in case!

Sorry... out trying to get stuff done... but you got it figured out :)

Well, in the future, you should make sure I don't need you, before you go having a life of your own! :lol2: Just kidding!

I'm workin' on it - don't want to derail your thread any more than I have.
