September 16 Frag Swap @ 1pm

Hopefully, Reef Shac will be there. He appeared at one of the Frag Meetings a few years ago before he opened his Reef Store. Great prices back then. Also, hopefully the salesman whom couldn't make it but sent some of his Stuff by a fellow reefer. His products was AMAZING; I will never forget the "Bling! Bling! that was displayed in the display tank. Amazing colors from such a short time with setup. You know who you are? Mr. Bling Bling! Hopefully you can get some of that Bling! Bling! on display for others to see. O, BTW his prices were "Unreal" for the amount of colors coming from his corals.

@walterp1982

Do you have a list of what you have?  I am looking to pick up some simple stuff to get the tank going.  $10/frag sounds like a nice price point to start :)

I'll be there! I haven't been to a meeting in a while. Looking forward to it.

Planning to be there and looking forward to it!  I hope to find something colorful and reefsafe that my clown can host.

See everyone at 1pm.  Were giving away $400 in gcs to Atlanta Aquarium and the full Mr. Saltwater book series.  Lots of great deals on corals.  Also a big thanks to FeedMe Algea for hosting our event.   Their facility is absolutely amazing!

Showed up right at 1pm today and cleaned up at Dball's frag tank!  Thanks man!  Not sure who I bought the rainbow bubble tip anemone from, but it is a beauty and my maroon clown instantly took to it.  Just hoping it stays put!   Anyways, thank you to those that participated.  So nice to see rare/awesome pieces at prices that are a small fraction of what I am used to paying online.  Can't wait for the next one.

Showed up a few minutes after 1pm today and saw a lot of super nice frags, from a distance, but a couple people in front of me "cleaned up" before I got anywhere near a single polyp.  ;)
The only other person that was setup had some nice clowns and 'nems but I don't need those at the moment.

I did get to chat with the FeedMeAlgae folks a bit, and picked up some 'pods since I was there.
Didn't see nor hear any mention at all of a raffle.
I'll try again, next time, I guess.

Can I ask.........what happened to the 10 plus people suppose to come out and sell coral as advertised........ I saw 2? Thanks Feedme Algae your produce rocks!

Ya stayed about 10 minutes after i realized  that there were only two people with coral  and most of what they had was gone.

First ARC event I've been able to attend due to all others being on days Ive had to work. First and foremost, thank you to Feed Me Algae for hosting us. That facility is spectacular and I'm excited to see how their products help my corals. The two guys that brought corals, thank you. Y'all had some awesome frags at reasonable prices.

Now the bad. In my opinion, the event was over hyped and under delivered. I was blown away that only two people brought corals after all the postings on the site about "10 people with some fire corals confirmed". I was so excited about the event that I even talked my wife into coming (she has no interest in the hobby) and after about 30 seconds of being there , her first comment was "this is it?" And there I am scratching my head saying "I guess. Maybe we just got here early." Thankfully I live about 5 mins from the event site so I didn't mind going and checking it out. But I would feel bad for those that drove extensive distances on Saturday. Can we get an explanation as to what happened?

In response to several requests for an explanation of low turnout at the frag swap this past week end…

Not really sure why some folks did not show up, we had 3 members set up selling and a couple others I overserved that just brought a few frags to trade/pre-sale (no formal set up to sell from). Can’t fault anyone for this and certainly not our sponsor coordinator.  We have run many frag swaps over the years and while usually much smaller than the annual expo the seller turn out is pretty decent.

The take away I see for the club is to do more documentation on the front end. Maybe a little more detail in the frag swap thread?

·         Publish a sign up list for Sellers/maybe include an overview of what’s being brought

·         Encourage more seller dialogue/pictures

·         Maybe the club could provide a frag tank for members to bring stuff that don’t plan on setting up a formal frag tank for selling.

I want to thank Tray, Mike and his team for hosting our meeting.  We really appreciate your hospitality and introducing your amazing products and state of the art facility to our community.

This months meeting was put together to enable our members to buy, sell or trade coral or livestock.  We had planned on 10 to 11 members setting up and with FeedmeAlgea we had 4, with a couple of members just bringing a few coral with no setup.  For one reason or another the others that planned on bringing a setup didn't.  We cant always control numbers.  But, we can definately do a better job getting commitments in writing and communication.  Its always difficult to plan for meetings and events as we may go over or under our projected numbers.  In the future we will institute a signup process for attendees ect it will make events such as this much easier on everyone.

Congratulations to the winners of the raffle items.  ARC purchased $400 in gcs to Atlanta Aquarium and a big shout out to Jeff Miotke who donated the Mr Saltwater book series ($175.00) that was raffled off as well.

I was really impressed with Dball and Wayne's offerings. I was trigger shy even after my wife encouraged me to go ahead and buy... and I missed a few things I wanted.. Better luck next time I guess.

The 10-11 members selling... was that normal members or sponsor stores? If it was "just" members, then yeah, maybe some more communication and formal process may work but WE are the members. I'm personally not going to complain that other members didn't do what I didn't or couldn't do myself. That is, provide a huge selection of great priced corals to my club friends. Would it have made it better? Sure. Hopefully I can make those contributions myself sooner or later.

Thanks for putting it together guys.

On another note. Anyone care to give feedback on those pods? I was very tempted but didn't pull the trigger on them either.
