I have read up on these guys and only found that they are not on the unwanted list. My questions is are they on the wanted list, are they beneficial? I am changing over to a new tank and the old tank is loaded with them. I was going to put the sand in the new tank but stopped due to the this question. If they are a good thing, I will add them. Thanks for the help.

are you talking about the little micro brittles?if so,theyre one of my favorite cuc members.if youre speaking about the big serpent stars, then they wont add much other than look cool.

Actually both. The micro white stars are in the sand. The stripped guys(about double the size) are on the rocks.

My tank has tons of the little white guys. I could count a couple hundred on the back wall of the tank alone. Everything I have been told is that they are a good part of the CUC so I let them be. They don't seem to hurt anything that I can see.

both the white and striped micro stars are good, they clean cracks and crevices.

The larger ones are good for stirring up detritus and cleaning behind the rock work.
Just avoid the "green serpant star of death"
