Someone recently messaged me, stating they believe Grafted Montipora Setosa was less vibrant in color than regular Setosa. This is also a thought I was curious about many months ago. And, because I had both colonies, I moved them into the same tank. This approximately standardized the lighting and water parameters. What were the results?

Results
Based on the genetics of these two specific colonies, and only 1 set of experiments, the two variations of Setosa are indistinguishable, without the presence of green-flourescent dark-red patches or striations (3).

I've attached a Summary Photo. With more photos, from additional angles, it would be more apparent how similar colors (1) and (2) are to each other. Nonetheless, the attached photo is a good summary (and eliminates differences in photo adjustments). Here, I've placed a frag from the Regular Setosa colony on top of the Grafted Setosa... as well as a frag of Grafted Setosa that was buried under the sand by my goby (4).
