All right we are starting to set up a 25 gallon tank in our bedroom. I don't know squat but I've managed to keep my 65 gallon well for a little while:yay: We have never started a tank so the question is:

Should I place a rock that has been in my sump for the 65 in the 20 to help the cycle?
If so, what are the steps should I just place it in.

We used dry base rock and live sand.

I'm in no hurry to cycle it but I want to succeed just in case I ever have to start say a 500gal lol.

The rock out of your sump is now live and would help seed the sand and dry rock. Just dump it in.

+1 it will seed ur tank. Can also use a cup of ur old sand as well if u dont want to use the rock from ur sump

I will add this caveat. As long as the rock doesn't have any pests or algae you don't want in your new tank. Other than that, add away.

Thanks everyone I wanted some reassurance lol
