Should I reseal a tank?

I found a good deal on a newer tank that has a small leak. Is reselling an aquarium safe? I know the basic sand don't have a problem doing it. Clean and caulk off then clean with alcohol. Is it safe to just reseal the inside of a tank without disassembling all the glass?

How big of a leak are we talking? If it is a dream tank, I would say go for it. If it is a common sized tank, I'd pass on it and wait for another one to pop up.

I have done the same thing as you have described on a 20g long and it has held water, with no leaks, for over 4 years...YMMV.

I've resealed a bunch and I've never had a problem. Use it to get a really great deal and go for it!
The only problem I have is making the joints pretty. I think it's because I use too much silicone though.

the secret to making a pretty joint is to use tape on either side of the joint in a straight line about half to 3/4" away from the corner then lay down your bead of silicone and spread it along the whole joint making sure that some silicone reaches on to the tape along the full length of the joint. once you're happy with it pull the tape off (its important to pull the tape off before the surface of the silicone gets tacky because if you dont it will mess up your pretty joint) and let it dry and cure for 24 hours. and if you want an even prettier joint kobalt makes a tool made to spread a bead of caulk and its fairly cheap at lowes i think i got one a long time ago for less than 10 bucks although i dont know where it is now.
