I put 2 peppermint shrimps in my tank a few days ago. Last night I saw that one of them had molted. I was wondering what yall do with the exoskeleton when your shrimp/crabs molt. Do yall vacuum it out or just leave it? Will it eventually "decay"? will something else eat it?

I have them stuffed and put back into the tank to make it look like I have more shrimp ......J/K

If the molt is floating around i'll pull it out but usually I just let it be. Never caused any issues I am aware of.

Leave it in. Your craps and shrimp like to eat it and also it replenishes calcium in the body. So its better for the crab if you leave it in for it to eat.

yeah, sometimes I leave it.. sometimes I yank it out.. (if it's easy to grab, I will get it.. but I'm not going out of my way to remove one)

Be careful with two banded shrimp. They are very aggressive to each other, so you'll possibly only end up with one.

really?

is that "all shrimp with bands" you're referring to?

I've never heard of peppermint shrimp going after each other..

I'm sorry, I misread. Peppermints are fine in huge colonies even. I thought he was referring to coral banded shrimp. My error and apologies.
