I have a coral banded in my 235.....are there any other types of shrimp that I could put in there that won't cause a crustacean war?

I really like the fire shrimp, cleaner shrimp and I have aiptasia....so a few peppermint would be nice also.

i have no issues with fire shirmp, cleaner shrimp and coral banded in my tank. they all stay in their own spots mostly.

Most likely the CBS will eventually kill off any other shrimp in the tank, even in a large system like yours. I had to move mine in to the 210 awhile back, and a few months later it looks like all my cleaners are gone.

My CBS doesn't seem to venture out and about. He seems to occupy only about 1/3 of the tank (if that much).....and is almost NEVER visible. You have too look for him and really really want to find him. WHICH...is part of the reason I'm wanting to add more shrimp. I LOVE funky little inverts.

It's possible that my cleaner shrimp disappeared for another reason, I never saw any interaction between these shrimp either..but they are gone.

I never see my three peppermints or cleaner unless I get a flashlight at night and look behind the rocks.

Never had any issues with keeping any of these (or peppermints and camels for that matter) together either. The only crustaceans I ever had that would eat another was a 'thumb splitter' aka-mantis shrimp, and large thick shelled crabs (other than strawberries, mithrax, decorators, etc.).

ok...question....why would you advise against buying the bigger peps or others if it is the CBS that I should worry about? I would think that since the CBS is the more aggressive, apparently.....I would want other varieties to be larger to ward off attack.

Maybe I misunderstood.

I already have a CBS.....he is sizeable, I've had him for several months, but he isn't the biggest that I've ever seen.

I'm looking to add other types of shrimp with him. I read it that dawgdude said I should stay away from all larger specimens of shrimp that I will be adding.

CBS is a current resident in my setup.

 Boss walked in......all of his requests for work is getting in the way of my reefing!

Ok, so maybe I will check my overflow and see if the shrimp ended up in there again!

i have a cbs and peperment no problems i also add about 30 what we down here call hardbak feeder shrimp they slowly get eated by fish, and corals and there freee lol i just go get them with a fish net from my tank (not the one i use all the time lol).

Now that I think about it, I once had a blue spiny lobster (until he outgrew my 125 reef) and even that didn't eat my shrimps that I can recall. I raised him from a baby. He got so big he was rearranging coral, so had to go! I kept him well fed though, and he molted often.

I have a CBS and Fire Shrimp in my 125. They each occupy seperate ends with no issues. Sometimes when I feed with the lights off I see them right next to each other happy.
