Was somewhat serious as maturation times can vary. I suppose some other signs, although not "sure signs", would be the female nipping at the male and the male doing his shakey dance (especially if there is a size differential).

Have seen this numerous time over the year that I have had mine. Seems like they will do it for a week or two then stop. Then a month or two later it starts up again. I suppose it is like us. Takes varying amounts of time to find that special one. :yay:
They wont stray far from each other, and at night will huddle next to each other. One will start to grow larger and become the dominent fish and the other will be smaller and submissive to the larger one.
