I had this overflow, this is exactly what I did. Barely helped. That overflow is destined to be loud.

not sure if this got cleared up or not as i didnt read onto page 2 but i have had to do this to figure out if my tank was tempered so ill explain a little bit. you do need polarized glasses but you also need a polarized light source. most lcd screens including the ones in smartphones will work but a laptop screen will work better. you place the polarized light source on one side of the glass and look through the glass with your polarized glasses from the other side. when you do this its best to have what ever you are using on a blank white screen as it will make it easier to spot tempered glass.. if you do see dark streaks that means your glass is tempered. if you don't see any then you have non tempered glass
