Simple 5 Gallon Nano

I think if more people setup tanks like this, saltwater wouldn't have the bad rep of being overcomplicated or difficult. I feed, clean the glass once a week, refill the evap with a little buffered R/O water every few days, and do a water change now and then (rarely). It doesn't get any easier than that, everything is happy and growing. The SPS (monti) was an experiment, so far it is growing and the color has improved.

Very nice! I do all of my tanks as simply and low tech as possible. It is very doable to have a nice tank with good growth and color even when done on a budget. Keep up the good work and Happy Reefing!

Nice tank and I agree stark....working on a rock flower anemone nano setup of my own. Figured I try a bare bottom this go round to see if it reduces the maintenance without impacting the stability over the long term. Going one month strong now.

I agree with all you said except the occasional water changes. I think the most important thing you can do for short and long term success in a small tank is frequent and regular water changes.

I have a 5g pico and have kept smaller for a decade or more and agree they are a great way for folks to enter the hobby without spending a lot of money.

I actually have it now! I'm in the process of setting it back up after some cleaning. Would love recommendations on how to increase the filtration capacity.
