Skimmer dilema SRO3000 vs MRC MR-2

SRO it is! This being my first reef in almost 20 years I need a "Set it and forget it" skimmer. Thanks for everyone's input. For all those who voted for the MRC you can find it in the FS forum.

I'll have plenty of tinkering to do... Trust me. You should come by Larry and see it when it's done. I think it will be kinda unique.

Well I owned both skimmers when I posted this poll. So, yes, I got it! But now I'm trying to buy someones SRO5000 since I upped my builds total gallons form 150 to 270.

Ah yes, that's right. I have the SRO5000 INT. It's a fantastic skimmer! I have roughly 160ish total water volume, and it skims mad!

Say when!

I don't understand. Do you mean that no one can have an opinion on something unless they've owned it?

Based on that statement I trusted you had a logical thought process to develop such an assessment and had actually compared the two side by side on your system. Since that doesn't seem to be the case then in all actuality it
probably is no more important than your above opinions.

Not at all. I was responding to your question as to why my question was important. It seems that neither was ,my question or your opinion.

You made the statement that you would run a beckett everyday over an SRO. I was hoping to add some value to your opinion by trying to understand the logic you used to form that opinion. You did not and that is my opinion and I own neither. So no I did not mean that.:)

Why was everyone else not questioned to their ownership and experience? A lot of opinions have been given, yet you singled out me for validation (which I hope I provided). I still don't understand how my ownership of a SRO is important to my opinion at all, especially if ownership doesn't imply anything.

From my experiences the MRC Beckett is a nice skimmer but requires constant fiddling with the injector. If it is used, you will most likely be expected to clean the injector often. Your electrical bill will be higher due to the pump requirement for the beckett skimmer.

Most of my needle wheel skimmers are set and forget. For a small system like yours, I strongly recommend a needle wheel skimmer. If your system is 1000g plus or in a commercial setting then I would go with the Beckett type.

That is why I did not ask.
Besides I just love picking on wuttle bitty you!

I don't control whether or not you have an opinion. I asked which you ran not what you owned. I assumed that you had personally ran both in order to form that strong of an opinion of the two skimmers, that is all Jeremy. I just asked the question so that I could decide what worth to place on your opinion. You then asked what the importance of my question was and by your answer to it, I deemed (IMO) neither important.

I considered the source and disregarded immediately:lol2:
