I am looking to purchase a skimmer for BC29. I do not have the top on anymore and was looking at this skimmer.http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-bh90-protein-skimmer.html">http://www.coralvue.com/reef-octopus-bh90-protein-skimmer.html</a>

Its rated between 75-100 gal.

Will this be overkill? Any recommendations(I only have the back chambers to work with)?

Thanks for the recommendation. But I am looking at spending less than $200 with shipping. It's rated for tanks between 50-75 gallons. So the other skimmer may work. I just don't want to get a skimmer to big and it sit idle and not work.

I'm a big advocate for over sizing a skimmer.

The gas exchange factor and capacity overhead are the reasons why.

I would cut any skimmer rating by 1/2, and those are the mainstream brands.

Lesser known and/or unconventional designs, I avoid. I've been burned too many times by egregious claims.

My $0.02

Overkill? I have a bubble Magnus Nac 7 on my bio cube 29 with a 20 gallon sump. :/
