Skimmer pump question

I have set my 135gallon tank with 65gallon sump back up and have had it running for a few months, I went to put my skimmer in (turbo floater 1000) and the pump was broken, it is rated at 625 gph so I went to a local hardware store today and saw a pond pump that was 620 gph. Do you think that pump will work for my skimmer or do the need a different type of pump.

You will need a needlewheel pump for that skiimer to work properly so the pond pump won't be of much help. Which pump do you have on your TF 1000 (Ocean Runner or Rio)? What's broken on it?

Exactly correct. That pump isn't all that expensive either. You can find them on eBay fairly reasonable. What's broken about it?

I think the motor was froze up.
