Skimmer pump suggestions?

Hey all. I recently acquired a Bubble King Deluxe 300 without a pump. Looks like a replacement pump would run me about $900 which is just insane. Any ideas on what other pump I could use that would deliver enough power without costing me a grand? I did some research and I’m considering Varios 6s, a Bubble Blaster 5000, or maybe Sicce PSK ADV 4000. I was also thinking I do like a Jebao DCP with some 3d printer parts. I’m mostly worried about getting something that’s under/over-sized for the skimmer. Any suggestions?

If I read correct, it’s a 60w dc pump 1500g/h ? That is humungus. Derating might work but there are lot of missing details..
Post the specs of the pumps and help the fellers help you out.

Yeah sorry about that. The Askoll BK 2000 pump that is original to the skimmer is about 60 watt, 600 gph air draw, and 800 gph water draw. The newer red dragon pumps have slightly higher specs but controllable - 60 watt, 700 gph air, and 1600 water. I think I need to land somewhere in between those.

Actually, I think their specs might be misleading on the Red Dragon 3. It might be 700 gph air and 900 water (1600 total). So pretty close in specs to the BK 2000.

ASM pumps.G-6 is a monster. I thought it mentioned using two pumps which is a nice thought. Two 35w-ish dc pumps.....
Not sure a smaller rated DC pump would help because the point is to have an option to lower it to tune.
There is a ReD Devil brand that Looked interesting. I believe on Chinese eBay. Check out the BRS videos where they measure and pick apart the air flow rates. It will be a good guide which to avoid.

Thanks. I’ll keep the ASM on the list but I’m thinking it might not work since you can’t adjust the angle of the outlet. I guess I could lay it on it’s side. I looked at the red devil pumps but the ones I found seem to be way too small. After some research, the Bubble Blaster 5000 seems to be the best match specs-wise and it does come with a 2 year warranty. Not really finding many more options for skimmer pumps that size.

I ended up getting the Sicce PSK ADV 4000. Interestingly, there isn’t a whole lot of info anywhere about this pump, but the specs seemed right.

The pump doesn’t come with a venturi and the threads on the inlet/outlet are just weird, so I ended up making a custom volute that fits the skimmer perfectly and a nice press fit venturi. The skimmer is about a month away from seeing water but I tested in some salt water and the amount of bubbles this thing produces is just unbelievable.
