Skimmer question.

When I say recent, it was within 5 years, but still a little dated.
 
Would it hurt to run multiple smaller skimmers(sorry not trying to hi jack your thread,but it's on the same subject)

Very interesting, I'm not going to pretend like I understood every bit of that. Lol. But the conclusion was simple enough. None of the four skimmers tested removed more than 30% of the organics in actual aquarium water, and out of the different kinds of skimmers tested they all all performed about the same.

However, when you do a 20% water change you remove 20% of the organic impurities in the water, so is it fair to say that running a skimmer is better than doing water changes twice as often?
 
It's very debatable. I'm a few brews in, so I will leave it at this:

Gathering information and forming theories and testing them out is what makes this hobby fun.

I look at my tanks as experiments. I like to keep experiments going in my favor, but I often like to try different things and see how they work. Sometimes it works in your favor(potassium permangenate), sometimes it doesn't(bio pellets). Live and learn :)
