What kind of skimmer
where to purchase for best price
Thanks, Bubba

Yeah, your Coralife won't cut it with 2 tangs making a mess in there. There are some good Octopus skimmers that won't break the bank. Tim (Keen Reef) will get you the best price on a new one, and he ships!

Just talked to Tim and he would go with the Octopus DNWB - 110 just a tad more than I wanted to pay because it does not come with a pump. Going to start dinner and think this over. Thanks for all your time and help. Bubba

Since you have a Mag 9.5 feeding your return to the tank, you could T off that and feed the skimmer as well. That pump is a bit big for your tank.

Or you could steal the pump off the Coralife, remove the air tube, and use that to feed the Octopus.

I remember when I ordered that pump something was said about ordering a "T" to run something else............at that time I didn't know what something else could be. I will do that or when I make room in the sump by eliminating the other pump I can add a GFO reactor, now I am using pantyhose. don't laugh it gets the job done. You guys are wonderful to a novice like me. Most would have eliminated me long ago. Thanks again. Bubba:yay:

You don't want to rob too much flow from the return, but I'd think you want around 300gph running through the tank. The M9.5 with head loss will still be around 600 if the tubing is sized right. You could add a manifold (a few T's with valves to close the feed and run to future things) for the skimmer and GFO reactor and probably still have some flow to spare. If you look in my build thread near the last page or so, you can see my set of T's I use to feed my refugium and calcium reactor to give you an idea.

I am trying to find you 90g Build Thread, they direct me to a post from you that has nothing to do with your build. Can you direct me please.
Thanks, Bubba

I would say "yes" if not for the tangs. Mine handled my 75 just fine with a medium bioload.

If you can't afford a super nice skimmer, just keep up with water changes while you save up some money to buy one you are 100% satisfied with.. A skimmer is not the place to skimp out on..

Better to save the money and buy one that is what you want/need the first time instead of buying one and then upgrading later..

I know MRC skimmer are rather pricey, but I have to say they are worth the cost.. I'll snap a picture in the morning showing how much my MR2 has pulled out in a combined 3 weeks.. Its insane.. Black as can be.. I held a flashlight over the water and you can't see more than 1" into it.. Its that thick and dark..

Here is the one we were talking about on the phone. Just making sure we were on the same page. This guy will make you smile!
