Time to buy a proper skimmer for my 125 upgrade. My old 72 had a coralife pos on it and an upgrade is certainly necessary. Which skimmer would you recommend for a tank this size? The new tank is a 125, 55 gallon sump, 55 gallon fuge. Let me know what ya'll think. Thanks

Knew I should have included that. Would like to possibly by used and stay under $400 if possible.

It really depends on the price point that you are looking for... when it comes to skimmers, this is a piece of equpment where you really do get what you pay for. If you are looking for a good upper-mid range skimmer, I would suggest an Octopus.

I like my Octopus 3000int. Pulls out the nasties with a vengeance.

120 plus 50 gallon sump here.

What model would you suggest?

Yep, I use an Octopus 3000 internal also, and it is a beast!

I use a reef octopus octx200 on my 210dt with 75g sump and couldn't be happier

I have two skimmers that I think are really good (for their price point). An Octopus DNWB-110 on my wife's tank and an SWC Extreme 160 cone on mine.

I am really happy with the performance of both, but I won't ever spend any more $ with SWC for ethical reasons (the owner got caught smuggling protected corals).

For my new build, I'm using an MRC. If you have room for one and the pump it needs they are really powerful.

on my 175 gallon system i am using the super reef octopus xp2000int, and i couldnt be happier.

I missed that - got a link?

I would buy the Super reef octopus 3000int for around $420, or if you had the extra cash I would go for the XP cone model however, it goes for nearly $600.
I bought my xp-2000int for $300 shipped from reef2reef, and at one point I had a xp1000sss for $200, so if you search you might be able to get a great deal on one. My only wish is that i could afford the external version! $$$
