I am thinking of getting a new (different) skimmer. My sump is small (the chamber that the skimmer goes in) It is only 7x15 I think. I think my best option is a out side the sump skimmer. Can you if you have a out of sump skimmer post some pictures? Plumbing etc. Would I just put a pump in the sump plumb it to the skimmer and put a return line from the gate valve back in the sump? It seams simple but I guess it is not that easy? Thank you Bruce

Lots of new skimmers incorporate the pump inside the chamber and have very small footprints because of this. I've noticed it in almost all new cone skimmers. Might be something to look into.

I would reccomend the Aqua Medic T1000 multi. It has a small foot print and can also hang off of the sump like a babckpack system. It has a decent AquaMedic pump is very affordable and rocks!!!!!!!! Very efficient skimmer and produces results.

I figured it would be a 55 or 75 gallon tank with a sump of only 7" x 15"? I'm curious if I'm close on size. lol

180 Gal, The sump is bigger than 7x15 that is the chamber the skimmer goes in. total sump is 15" x 30"

10-4 you should use a Aqua C EV180. Although on My softy 125RR tank I have a tuboflotor T1000 multi and it has been working like a champ for 6yrs strong.
