Skimmer!

What size tank is this going to be on? Do you plan on keeping a med or heavy bio load?

90 gallons! Not heavy bio load but I just want the tank is good all the time. Thinking about the bubble king too.

bubble king is in a completely different universe than the other two. I have a BKmini 200 and it is by far the best skimmer I've ever owned.

if you don/t mind dripping the dime on a real bubble king.. then go for it

I just dont know if it's worth dropping the 900+ on the bk160 unless you can find it used....but then you run into possibly having to buy a new pump (not cheap...red dragon pumps like to die around the 3 yr mark....but it is the new gen of them, so hopefully they would be better) The bk200 would be severe overkill on a 90. Vertex makes great skimmers, you may need to do some reading on that model, I thought the first run of them had some issues....I believe they have it all worked out. I can't really comment on the BM, never ran one, or seen one in person. A skimmer that has really come to my attention is this:

and I have heard a good bit of good things about this line as well:

Take your time and weigh all your options and possibilities. Is an external skimmer an option?
I would also say there is no such thing as skimmer overkill. Extreme "Oversizing" of equipment in this hobby can save the tank when something goes wrong.

Both a Smart Car and a BMW will get you to work and back at 65mph just the same as long as nothing goes wrong. But, if there's sudden need to swerve, break, or accelerate- You want to be behind the wheel of the BMW. Otherwise, you're much more likely to have a "crash". And I sure wouldn't want to be in any crash in a Smart Car.

Internal only cuz I don't have room. Sound like bk200 is good but it's kinda expensive :)

I'm with you on that one. I don't think I could ever bring myself to drop 1k on a fish toilet.

I have a vertex 150 on my 120 gallon and have had zero issues with it. Pulls dark skim daily and it is quiet as a church mouse plus low energy consumption
