I've had an Air, Water & Ice RODI unit (the Typhoon) for a little over 7 months now. In the beginning, I could make 5g of water in just over an hour. Now, though, it's taking me 2 or 3 hours. I know basically nothing about how this works, but it seems like there's an issue doesn't it? :shades:

During winter the temp drops and causes the membrane to contract, reducing the pore size. This restricts flow, but slightly improves filtration too.

If you have processed a lot of water, then your membrane may be somewhat clogged as well.

I do know or more accurate heard that water pressure and water temperature may affect output. There are many members much more knowledgable thane me here; I am sure several will opine.

Edit: Woop Ich (above) types faster than I do (and is much smarter too!)

I have the same unit and 2 to 3 hours for 5 gallons is normal. The spec's say 2 1/2 GPH. It's odd that you got 5! Call them, Cliff is very helpful.

Temperature and pressure make a huge difference. We have a calculator on our home page where you can plug in your temperature, and your pressure, and it will tell you how fast your membrane should process water given those conditions.

The most common causes of slow production are 1. clogged prefilters reducing the pressure reaching the membrane, and 2. cold winter tap water.

Mine is rated at 75 GPD, which would be 3.125 GPH. Add in the extremely cold water I've got right now, and I could easily see it being where it is now. (I think it's so high in warm weather because we have really high water pressure.)

Thanks all!
