I have a few large turbos and since I moved them to the 30 cube I noticed they will sometimes sit on the sand bed with most of themselves hanging out...

The only think I had time for this morning to check was temp and salinity...78 and .0128 The GSP, clowns, singapore and RBTA seem to be fine along with the red and blue legs..

Thoughts? I will check rest of the parameters tonight

What's the specific gravity? If it's 1.028 that's on the high side...

It is Jenn....I topped off about a gallon this morning...If it's high this evening Ill take out 5 and add 5...I just brought home my refractometer last night...was using the plastic junk that said it was 1.025

Thanks

It's possible chris...I may have too much flow in here but not sure if it's enough to knock them off the glass and them to act like that...

When you moved them, what was the SG of the tank they came from? Did you acclimate them to the new tank?

Jenn

It's a snail, they just die for no reason sometimes. I'd suggest getting some butter and garlic ready :Banane09:

I did NOT acclimate....mostly because it was 1/2 my old water, my old substrate, old rock...Could it be that theres a lack of food in the new tank??

I believe the old salinity was 1.025

If there was a significant salinity change from one to the other, that can kill them.

Jenn, Chris and all...Lowered my Salinity down to 1.025 and theyre all up and about now...thanks (just did a 4 gallon change from salt to RO)

Hey Russ, what did you use to calibrate your new refractometer?

When I bought it I believe I used ro water (If I remember right) Then I compared it to Tims reading when I had my nitrates tested....why?

Calibrating with Ro can yield a refractometer inaccurate. I was just making sure you weren't changing your salinity levels without having an accurate refractometer. However if you tested it against Tim's I would say it would be pretty accurate. I recently just got some salinity reference solution to make sure my refracto was calibrated properly, luckily it was. However I have heard from some in the past that when they test their refracto that they can be off.

I didnt know that....
