i've noticed my nassarius snail has been missing for a few days, he's usually out in the mornings then burrows at night. should i assume it's dead and try and find it and pull it out? i dont want it fouling up my water.

do nothing. The loss and ammonia spike from a small snail shouldn't be enough to matter, however you stirring up the sand and moving stuff would be worse.

It probably isnt dead. They do tend to hide out, either way if it did die it wont hurt your tank, nature will take its course. Your bristle worms will enjoy the snack.

Yep. Normal way of life in a tank. Their life spans are not the greatest. Eventually you'll probably see the shell and then you can pull it our if you like.
