Snail shooting smoke?

I just saw one of my snails shooting a little puff of smokey stuff out...Is this their way of spawning or is there something else going on?

Pretty sure it was a Nassarius but it could have been an Astrea-It was kind of hiding itself. Either way, looked like lil snail smoke signals coming out of it haha.
