Indeed I am....can't believe I found them but I just got a pair of AI SOL Super Blue LED's with controller!!!! Finally, all of my LED's will be on controllers so I can program them for fade in and out however I want them. This is really gonna be cool!

yea they have narrow beam angles. in the 60 to 90 degree range if im not mistaken

Nice, I love my sols! They can be found super cheap these days. Post some pics and your settings I think I'm running rb95/b90/w65 I'll have to check when I'm back in town

The sols come stock with 70 degree optics on the corners and 40 degree in the middle.
Unless the tank is 30" or more deep I would make them all 70s

Congrats! I'm currently running 6 AI sols on my 180g reef and they are loving it.

They are here!! Man do these things put off some light and the fans are the quietest I've ever heard! Now I just have to figure out the controller and how I'm going to hang them!

Glad you have those lights! Now makes me rethink in my future light setup I was lining torch reefbreders brand for a 120g that I pretend to pack with sps mainly ;/

You hanging them in a canopy? I'm trying to figure out how to hang mine in my canopy

I am hanging them in a canopy and I've got it all figured out, just have to cut a couple of pieces of plastic pipe with a slot in it and I'm done. It's really simple. I'm going to use the same principle that I used in hanging my TaoTronics. My other option is if I can find eyebolts long enough and if I can, I'll go that route. Will post pics as I hang them. Need to go to the store for some parts first.

Thanks. I was thinking eyebolts but my canopy has a 1-1.5" gap right in the middle of the canopy on top so I'd have to rig up something to hang them dead center in the canopy.

Here is how I have mine in the canopy :)

So here's how I hung mine inside a 8" tall canopy. This option gave me the most clearance and was very easy using commonly found components.

The first thing was to remove the screws that come with the AI Sols and in their place, I used 3/16" x 3" eye bolts. Now the issue is that the eye bolts are 24 thread and the holes in the AI Sol are 32 thread so I had to get out my die set and rethread the bolts. Not a big deal really unless you don't have the tools. Then it becomes an issue. Otherwise, it won't work. I then cut the eye bolts to a more preferred length of 2 1/2" long. Once attached to the light, I simply attached a 1 1/4" key ring to each eye bolt (found at Lowe's in the hardware area).

Inside the canopy, I attached 4- 1 1/2" electrical conduit brackets (Lowe's electrical dept) since there's not a lot of weight here, I used #8 x 3/4" wood screws to attach those brackets. These are zinc and not being in direct contact with water, shouldn't rust.

Next I cut appropriate lengths of 1" PVC pipe and painted them black. All you have to do now is slide the PVC pipe onto the front bracket, through the keyring, through the rear bracket and you have yourself a light holder! Oh and it's slightly adjustable. Mine would be adjustable if I used more brackets.

I also experimented with an alternate using a lot of the same materials except no eyebolts and key rings...for those without these tools. All you have to do is cut a 3/16" wide opening in the PVC most of it's length. This can be accomplished with a table saw, a rotozip tool, a jobmax, or even a hand saw. NOTE: Do not use thin-wall PVC for this installation!! Simply slide the bolt head from the AI Sols into the groove you just cut while threading the PVC pipe into the brackets and your done!
