My return hose came off my return pump and blew water all over the inside of my cabinet!!!! It was just blowing water everywhere! Smoked my heater and power strip and stunk the place up. My wife was freaking out. But at least i didnt smoke my brand new halides!:yay:

Wow. One of the main reasons why on my new setup I went with all hard line plumbing. And with a pump that pushes 4600gph defiantly would not want it to get loose and spray all my water all over the place. Glad that nothing else got damaged.

Yeah rookie mistake!! I guess when i was mounting the ballasts last night i must have bumped something??? But yeah my return was just blowing water everywhere!

Yeah I defiantly can not afford that to happen on my setup. I would suggest zip ties or specific plastic pipe couplers to clamp the hose on.

Yeah well thats why im not seeing patients today!!! Spent all morning drilling and zip tying everything. Now everything is nice and neat. Now i have to go try to find a heater. And in Athens theres not much to choose from! But i cant run off my 3 walmart back ups for very long lol!!

There is nothing wrong with hard PVC plumbed tanks, but I have used vinyl tubing for runs between equipment for 20 years and never had an issue. But you shouldn't use vinyl tubing if you do not use hose clamps. Forget the zip ties. Worthless. You need worm gear hose clamps on all dry tubing/barb connections:

And these nylon clamps on all wet tubing/barb connections:

I have always used these, and have never had that type occurrence. Use these and you will not have this issue again.

That's exactly what I did Sunday night. Since the valve is up near my bulkheads, at first I thought the tank sprung a leak. By the time I figured out what I did, the water was running over the power strip. So like an idiot I tried to pull the plug which proceeded to of course zap the hell out of me. Finally I slammed all the breakers closed in my house, which wasn't a moment to soon as the strip now had smoke belowing from it!

Sent from my Sprint handheld device-

eek! lucky it didn't damage more! keeping me from making your mistake tho, thanks for posting :)

No need to be paranoid. Just use clamps with vinyl tubing.
