Hi all. I'm setting up a 150 gallon DT. This is my biggest tank thus far and more than likely will be a slow build. just throwing that out there so there won't be constant updates. I'm new to ARC and I'm thankful for the information I've found on the forums. Shout out to BrandonMason. Thanks for the rock and information you've given me.

Welcome aboard, can't wait to see this as it progresses...150 was my largest tank a well.

I see it's not reef-ready...what are your plans for that? Drill it, HOB overflow or something else. Also, what are you planning for the back glass; paint it, some sort of purchased background, or just leave it the way it is?

Can't wait to see this going to. Just call anytime Phil if you need a hand.

For starters most everything will be HOB. I'm relatively certain it's tempered. The bottom is tempered for sure. Yes I know how to test it but that's not on top of the priorities list right now. No plans to paint it as the wife vetoed that idea right away.

Since you're going HOB for most everything, a background of some sort will keep viewing eyes from being distracted by filter bodies/overflows and the myriad of cords from powerheads, lights etc. Just something to think about before getting it into place and 150g of water in it.

I'm fully aware of that. This tank is going to evolve over the months/years to come. So I can't say what the end result will be. As for viewing eyes, at home anyway, is just my wife and daughters. I guess the cats and dogs will look at it as well.

Hi there, and welcome! My tank shares about the same footprint, I really like it. If you are going to go with overflow boxes, I highly suggest checking out the LifeReef overflow:

Second that, HOB equipment takes away from the look of your tank. Paint it black and put it against a wall. Then you can hide all your HOB and all cords behind the tank

Looks like you are putting it behind a couch. One option is to build a cabinet/channel/raceway on the outside of one end or in a corner for the plumbing to run through and be hidden inside. You could set it up like a peninsula tank and have all the plumbing come in and out one end or corner of the tank. Have it so that you cannot see the plumbing on the inside or outside of the tank. Something like in the pic. below...

That was taken right after I got it inside. Not where it's placed. It is on another wall not behind any furniture. I see your point though.
