So what's the emergency plan

We have two generators in my house just in case. they can last for about two days. i have a 2 hour battery supply too for just my tank

I should have thought to check amazon.. That's where everything else I've ordered came from lol.. 8 to 10 hours isn't bad at all

Robb, when you guys have a storm in your area how long are you usually out for? Just curious! I bet it's such a relief to know you have a backup incase the worse does happen. Smart thinking :)

Just filling my first year in this house - worst outtage was 3hrs so far...

Worst one we had lately was about 4 hrs. When a squirrel jumped in the wrong spot at the wrong time.

I'd use my back up power supply battery. They are ment for computers turn them on for 15 min every 2 hours. I'd recharge them with my portable solar panels. If it lasted More then a week. I'd go to a junk yard get an old alternator mount it on plywood add some bicycle pedals. N get to huffing probably need a 5 min charge 1 time a day. If it's storming real bad n wind I could always put fan blades on the end of it instead. Ahh ya I know I'm a red neck nerd. Where the duct tape huh

Seeing all the money going into building this system has me worrying about this very thing. Just last night, I was talking to my wife about getting a whole house generator. Many of them can run off natural gas or propane. The one I'm looking at will run natural gas or gasoline. My way of looking at it is I would rather INVEST $4k in a practical solution for my entire home instead of throwing away $500 on a less effective small generator.

Yes, that's very true & also while I'm sitting here with my tiny generator hugging my fish tank for warmth you will be kicked back on the couch watching tv!

Ok, come help me build one! I've been wanting a exercise bike anyway lol

Really anything that has a motor n is plugged into the wall if you turn it by hand it makes power instead of using it. So whatever u use to turn an alternator or evuiv will make power. Trust me when the hordes attack mike will have power no gas needed :)

I have a tiny generator with a broken leg... I've never even run it. it's about time to try it out... don't know what to do about the leg tho.

Robb do you have to do maintenance on that or will they always start?

:lol2: those darn zombies! Maybe you could train em to pedal the bikes. Just hang some meat on a pole in front of them for motivation huh
