Soda Lime Disposal Question

Hey,

So it's been while since I last posted, but I was wondering for the folks using CO2 Scrubbers if there are any special disposal considerations for soda lime once it has been spent, or is it something that can just go straight into the garbage bin.

Also is it something that should be handled with gloves and safety goggles?

I dump all my nasties on my neighbor's lawn. It's been working out quite nicely for many years now.

You even look like Justin Bieber.

Honestly I always tried to avoid contact with skin and eyes and try not to breathe it in. But here's a link.

I've just bagged it in a grocery bag and tossed it in the garbage, but according to this that's the incorrect way of disposing it. I guess you could just take the wasted soda lime back to a local airgas. There's one downtown btw.

Great info! I was wondering if I was disposing of it properly.

I'm sure there are probably a lot of people doing on here doing our environment a disservice with how we dispose of this...

Not to mention those CFL light bulbs too...

So just a short update. I live in a condo so I don't really have a neighbor's yard to dump on. ;)

The sales rep I spoke with at AirGas said they don't recycle this stuff, but she said she would make a few phone calls for me to see if she can get more info for me. I also sent an email to bulkreefsupply since that was where I got my first batch from.

I'll update this thread if I get anymore info.
