me and a fellow solana owner were thinking about starting a thread to here what others have done to their solana. just to give us ideas and others ideas of what could be done.

I'm not a Solana owner, but threads like this are helpful to many people when they google mods for a particular style tank.

I've gotten a lot of feedback from many Fluval Edge owners because of my thread.

Replaced the stock return, replaced original skimmer, cut the tab so they are a little above the water line

I replaced the pump. I didn't add a return. I used a maxi 900/1200

did you change it back when you sold it?
does anyone else have 2 returns coming from theirs?

I'm glad you started this thread! I'll start off with few of the mods I have done so far, Ill try and post some pics at some point

-Took out sponge in overflow box and replaced with bioballs
-I replaced the stock skimmer with a Tunze 9002 (Chamber 1)
-I have purigen and chemipure (Chamber 2)
-JBJ ATO (Chamber 3)
-MP10
-Took off the lockline
-Replaced glass top with mesh
-250w lumen max 2 instead of disco ball

I would like to get some feedback from people on their thoughts or experiences on:
-Installing a fuge (lighting options & which chamber)
-Running HOB media reactors (what kind, what pump, what chamber)
-Replacing stock return with MJ1200 for slower flow in the filtration area
-Building plans from MVM's canopy
-Installing actinic LED supplement with a pendant halide (lumen max 2)

... that is all for now

Edit:

I only have one hole for returns, but good idea to raise it up... how would you go about cutting the hole with a full tank?

2 elbows. i am also interested in the actinic supplement lighting when there is nothing to mount it to

I pulled the skimmer and turned that compartment into a refugium. Run carbon in the next. Swapped the disco ball for an AI sol nano. It's a softy/marine planted, so the extra macroalgae/seagrasses and low bioload seem to work great without a skimmer.

I run a Two Little Fishies PhosBan Reactor 150 and have a Sicce Syncra Pump (106gph) in the middle chamber. Probably the best upgrade I have done to the tank other than adding a Tunze Osmolator to control evaporation and add Kalk.

the reflector is crap and it is 150w, not bad by any means for softies and lps but you get much better color and growth with alternate pendants
