I am thinking of setting up a Solana. I will not be using the stand, so I want a light that hangs like a pendant. It will be setting on a (very solid) granite end table, which makes it almost impossible to use the standard disco light. I also don't want to use a sunpod that sits on the tank. I feel that takes away from the rimless look.
About the only one I can find that will work is the Viper K2.

Do you think it would be safe to mount this on the rim of the tank?
If you guys & gals have any other recomendations, please let me know.

My wife has been bugging me about sea horses and they would never make it in my tank, so this tank will only have sea horses, pip fish, and corals.

Ok, this is gonna sound crazy, but it is an option, you could hang the light from the ceiling.:)

yeah my light hangs from the ceiling, try looking into the aquamedic fixtures

The ceiling is 19' high in this room. My house has a very open floor plan. If I where to turn the ceiling fan on, the light would swing too much, let alone the wiring issues.

I just put it next to a wall and drilled the mounting hardwear into a stud in my wall...Works fine. You could always fabricate a stand for it though if you didn't want to drill.

Do you think the glass would hold up to the weight of the Viper fixture? That is what I am really concerned with.
