Hey folks,

anyone know of an HD or Lowes that sells that material (comes in 8x4 sheets) that is used to reduce noises in hardwood floors?

i've heard of people using it to dampen the noise coming from their reef tank, anyway, if anyone has other suggestions... i'd appreciate it.

thanks,

Matt

edit: please feel free to move this thread to an appropriate section, i thought I was in the ARC members area...

I can move it to the DIY area or the reef discussion area or just leave it here, your choice....

whatever, cream pie boy... ;)

I think the DIY section would be a better place for it... much thanks!

You can use foam board, sold at Lowes/HD near the lumber section. Dampens the sound quite well!

thanks, but i was actually thinking of something like this:

i don't think they have distribution down here, so i was wondering if someone was aware of a substitute product...

any decent car audio shop will have dynomat. It is kinda steep tho from what i remember...

there is an "pro audio" store on the I-85 Access road, going south of Jimmy Carter. They have this stuff in big sheets. It is used in hometheater and recording studios. May want to check them out.

How loud are you planning on having your tank? Plywood does a really good job on it's own. If you're ever in suwanee, I can show you.

Are you going to line the inside of your stand or something? The foam board at Home Depot would work ok and would be alot cheaper then using Dynomat or any of the products marketed strictly for sound proofing.

You could try this place ,there in the states...
