I was importing and selling Discus at the time Eheim bought Ebo-Jaeger and bought several of these new heaters when they first came out 3-4 years ago, and I have to say you are spot on about the quality. Now, the initial quality issues have been corrected and everyone loves them again.
Classic Ebo-Jaeger heaters were some of the best aquarium equipment ever made, IMO, like the Eheim Classic Filter Series.
Yes I have kept my old Eheim classics even though I haven't used them in years. I just can't part with them. Maybe one day I'll replace the o-rings and use them on a fw tank.
I just checked out a 300 watt Eheim Jaeger at a a Sponsor store. Theses things are 19" long!!! The 250 watt ones are 17" long. I'm not sure how this thing would fit into my sump. They have been redone since they were called Jaegers. Honestly, these 250 and 300 watt versions wouldn't fit in the sumps of a lot of Reefer's systems. I'm sure they are good units. I'd have to go with four 150 watt units to get the 600 watts I want.
May have to stick with the titanium units and a Ranco.
