SPS Woes - thoughts?

I believe it's the same reagent for both tests, and yes, give Seachem a call, they'll send you one.

****.. I tossed both it and my calcium kits. Thank you for the info though, very good to know.

I find it best to store that reagent tightly sealed, in a cupboard, not in the case that the test comes in. Less chance of it getting moist that way.

I've tested po4 with two kits, and the dip sticks (garbage but still). Magnesium and alkalinity however I have not double checked.

I suppose my question now is what is the safest and fastest way to bring my mg levels back up to normal. I ordered a 3 part dosing pump and chemicals about a week ago and that will help maintain but in the interim I would like to bring my levels back up.

Also, for flow I have 3 WP25s blasting the rock work.

The lights are reefbreeders, I run them at 100% blue and 60% white midday with ramp up and down periods on either end.

I appreciate all the feedback everyone.

I've got an extra (new) gallon of Kent Teck M if your interested? It will bring your mag up safely, my corals love it!

Old thread, but figured I'd update everyone. I recently added a marine magic 3 stage dosing pump (cheap, ebay brand). My mg has climbed up to 1050, Alk right around 8, and nitrates are less than 2 according to salifert kits and around 1ppm according to red sea kits. Phosphate is .03 or undetectable.

SPS seem to be stable, colonies which were RTNing have stabilized after being fragged. The only casualty was a no name green tabling acro frag. Over all, a quality learning experience.
Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Low alk is what I suspect took out my stylphora. Once I started bringing up my alk to 10 the stn stopped and it's hanging by a thread. 3 polyps left :(

So are you chalking this up to the low MAG?? Were you getting any precipitation? I thought that might be a side affect since MAG helps to keep saturated ALK and CAL levels in a free state.

What are you testing your Phosphates with?
