Dustin (RedEdge) built that for me and I have been very pleased.
haha yes, i ment to credit Red for doing it lol but trying to work and post is difficult.

Well, I want to remove the center post that goes down between the two doors so i have more access and i could slide the sump in and out if i needed too for whatever reason. Even having it as a solid door that looks like two seperate door but removes as one would be cool (like my current stand). For me its all about acess not really asthetics but it cant look ragidy..

Like this?

Well, two doors would work and they open in the middle. Thats what I really wanted to say but getting flustered lol

I was going to buy some 2x4s tonight after work and start measuring and cutting and glueing and screwing 3" screws in. then I can worry about framing this weekend.

but yes, that is how I want the interior of the stand to look

if you are going to use 2x material and leave out the one brace I would use 2x6's for the top frame

would leaving the support in the rear make a difference?

never built with 2x6s

Ok, what other wood option is there then? Just out of curiosity.

I know I need to get this water out of the tank and off the stand but I want to make sure the new stand is done right.

But i can have my coral and fish in a 32g trash can for 3-4 week either.

No reason not too. Just didn't kno they made it in that size. But you said if using 2xs I should use 2x6s. Just curious what else there is.

you forgot 2x2 and 2x3... LOL

look under your house or porch. if no center brace you would need a min of 2x6.

Porch made of concrete. Tank is in the basement in my room on a concrete slab. No reinforcing the floor.

just have to look up or are the joist covered.

You could build it like a deck but it's over kill. If you use the info I posted above and read it will make it simple about 3hrs. You cut everything and then screw and you can glue it together. I promise it will work. It’s better to build it where you want it to verify level. It stinks to build something perfect and then have to shim it due to unlevel floor.

Finished basement.

This'll be stand 3 I built. But its finding time to do it.

I disagree unless it is a built in tank. . It renders the stand only suitable for that particular location .

Got three 2x6s and 4 2x4s.. and a large box of 3" deck screws.. Might start cutting and framing tonight or tomorrow.

Cut and put together the top 2x6 frame. Will cut and put together the 2x4 bottom frame then cut 2x6s in 30" lengths to give the stand a height of 30".

Any other type of reinforcements that need to be done since I will have a large section with out a center support? I think 2x6s done across should be enough but just want to be sure.

about done with the frame finally. Got to decide where to put the front center post to make two distinct openings. then it'll be time for the outside cover.. not sure if i should biscuit some 1x4s or just use plain sheet of ply wood.

suggestions?
