My sump is under my stand. I clean out my skimmer cup regularly but still smells like skimmate. Anything I can do to make it not smell so bad?

Have you spilt water at one point under the sump?

You could put a bag of carbon over the holes in the top of the Skimmer cup if that is the source.

That's not a ba idea. I notice the smell being strong when I switch to a reactor vs. a media bag in the skimmer chamber

Why not have it drain into a closed top container? I'm about to set that up. My drain valve will have a hose running to a gallon milk jug with a hole cut in the plastic cap. Then, seal around the edge of the hole to make it reasonably air tight.

I had that problem a while back so I put a box of baking soda in the corner of stand. I also occasionally run a small air ionizer in the fish room if I think it's smelly.

Get one of these... It traps the skimmate and any air that escapes has to go through a carbon filter. Works like a charm!

If you wanna see one in action Thanh stop on by.

I read your complaint wrong. I had thought you were talking about a stench coming from your sump....

I edited my last response.

I think it's trying to tell you that you need to upgrade :)

I heard that is caused by too much SPS in the display tank. Because I am such a nice guy I will take all your SPS and the problem will go away. :-)

Stop spending so much time in there and the "cubby" won't smell like you...der.
