Hello everyone, I would like to get some input on the general layout of a sump. It's being made from a 75 gal tank and the DT will be a 210 gal. I have not decided on actual dimension yet just the general outline. Looking for feedback before I proceed. THX.

Oh by the way. this system will be a FOWLR. With this in mind, I wanted to know if there are real measurable benefit to have a fuge on a fish only system. I am budgeting for the best skimmer I can afford and am debating wether it would be better to use chemical filtration (carbon, GFO, etc.) as supposed to the fuge.

Thanks

If you are going to use an internal skimmer you will need to choose which model and get dimensions as that will determine the size of the rest of you chambers. If it is a FOWLR I don't know if I would even bother with a fuge and you could run carbon, GFO, etc. off a manifold on the return pump.

Are you going to have a auto top off system or manual top off as this is also really important. If you will top off manually then return section needs to be as big as possibly as it could cause pump to suck air or run dry if not topped off daily....

Well I have been debating the five thing. If I can determine that the fuge will be less beneficial than say carbon and gfo then I will turn my attention to a different sump design. So I guess I would like some more inputs on the fuge deal. THX.
